Fascinator on Etsy

Written by: Anne Driscoll for Premier Bride’s Perfect Dress

Ever since the royal wedding, there has been some attention being drawn away from brides in the form of a little hair embellishment called a fascinator. Now, it’s not as if we haven’t seen these accessories before. The blue feathered hairpiece worn by Sarah Jessica Parker‘s character, Carrie in the first Sex and the City movie was hard to miss.

Another Sarah’s (Ferguson) daughter caused a stir in her choice of hair adornment. Princess Beatrice was a sight wearing this beige thing on her head. You’ve got to give it to her. It takes some guts to have that (again I say) thing seemingly suspended on her head. I’ve got to say, I do love the British.

In the past several months, I’ve noticed fascinators popping up in different venues. While on vacation I even saw a booth at a craft fair selling headband versions and I must say, they were cute! There were different styles for any taste. Feathers, beads, sequins, lace, flowers, even plastic fruit. Super cute and super fun.

Needless to say, this is a big trend. A recent search on Esty.com, a crafter/DIY marketplace, returned over 25,000 results! So, we’d love to know. What’s your style? A large, bold piece or an elegant statement piece reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s style?
